Christmas around the world

Stowaways

Hi there
This week we have been writing about stowaways.
We looked at a picture about 3 seal in a basket. We had to think about how they got there and what would happen next.
In our writing we am working on speech marks.
Here is Lefine's story I hope you enjoy reading it.


Once upon a time there were three brothers and their names are Damion, Ezrael and Lesley. They were scared because they thought that they were never see each other again because of the basket and because they did not know where they were cause Ezrael said “where are we”. Lesley and Damion said, “Something is afoot,” said Lesley and Damion. “It is weird that we are at the beach but we are supposed to be in icy places. We should be in ice water and then that is our natural habitat” but we are in dangor said Ezreal, Damion and Lesley, we need to escape by biting her leg then we can escape but we will have to fit through the metal   

Maori Language week

This week is Maori Language week.
Room 13 have had a tasty breakfast and prepared food for a Hangi with our buddy class - Room 10. At lunch time we ate the healthy vegetables that we cooked in the Hangi. It was really tasty.

Seeing sound

Wow another experiment- this time we were looking at how we can see sound. We used cling wrap over a plastic bowl and salt. When we hit the container next to the bowl- the salt on the cling wrap moved up and down.
We learnt that when you strike the metal container, it vibrates making the air particles vibrate too, moving the plastic wrap and therefore the rice. This is how we hear the spoon striking the metal container as well.

Volleyball

During Term 2 the Kauri team were learning how to play volleyball. This was quite hard.
We learnt the under arm serve, the set and the dig. These are all moves to keep the ball in the air. During game time it was really hard to keep the ball in the air, but Mapa, Joseph, Mubarak and Tofia where the winners.
It was fun learning Volleyball.

We love using HP Reveal. It is hard but it encourages us to be resilient. Hope you enjoy watching our HP Reveal.

Taste test

Wow we enjoy doing Science experiments
Today we did the taste test. We tasted sugar water, salt water, vinegar with water and coffee water. The sugar was the only taste we enjoyed. During this experiment we learnt about that the taste buds on our tongue identify sweet, sour, salty and bitter. We also learnt our tongue is a muscle that helps us with eating and talking.
