Duffy Assembly

On Tuesday 11 September Leah Panapa, a radio host,  came to talk to the children of May Road School. She talked about how important books were in her life and about her love of horses and dogs.  Leah  also read a funny story about Piranhas  who don't eat bananas.
Some lucky children got their Duffy books presented to them by Leah. Then the rest of the children got their free Duffy Books in their classrooms. What a great surprise.

What fun was had on Wednesday afternoon when the show Super Duper Show came to May Road School.

It was lovely to see how imagination and stories can be included to make an entertaining afternoon.

The Emerald Elf

Today the Emerald Elf came to Room 13. She was wearing a green sparkly hat,green hair,big red glass,green dress,red belt,red and white striped pants and green shoes. The class was very,very very excited about  the Emerald Elf coming to Room 13. The whole class got a certificate but 2 people never came with there reading diaries. Emerald Elf came with a case with toys, pencils,pens,animal cards and note books. Emerald Elf was handing out certificates to all of the classes at May Road School.  When the Emerald Elf was handing out certificates we also got a toy,pencil,pen,notebook and a animal card. When I got my certificate I felt excited. Well Mrs Petrus thought that Room 13 is going to be in last place and second place but we actually came First. We were really excited we went crazy,that we were monkeys being silly and saying yay so loud that were monkeys saying ooaaooaaooaa so loud. When it was home time.  Fatafehi

Our First Duffy Assembly

We had a special duffy assembly because Henry came to our school. He told us how he got here it was a awesome story. It was also hilarious. He is super cool. He is amazing at acting the girls parts. He actually sounds like a girl when he acts the girl parts.The story took long my back was hurting like someone punched me on the back. Some people from our class were taking pictures of everything. Henry is a good actor. After he told us all about his story Miss Noakes and himself were hading out the cool books that the children wanted. After the children got their book they all got together then the people with the ipads took a picture. Leipua

The scary stormy night

On a scary night wind blew like a ghost whispering and it looked so spooky the windows were still open and it was freezing cold as a huge big wind was blowing everything down. Then after that I  had a cosy comfortable blanket, too keep me warm. Then later that scary night the wind blew even bigger so we shut all the windows. Then for our yummy dinner we had chicken and hot chips with some cold tomato sauce from the freezing cold fridge. We didn’t hear the stomp of thunder because the doors were shut the strong wind blew some of the leaves into the wet slippery grass and dropped it in the front yard where the wet mail fell from the letterbox. We could rip it so easy and it is like ripping a piece of paper. Then after that I took a plastic bottle of good spring water and the outside was so easy to scrunch it like squeezing a big cake. I drank little bit because it was a big bottle.  Then when we went to the room we had to sleep straight away. In the morning we looked outside then there was a big humongous mess of leaves. Then we had some yummy crunchy soft food from the night and we saved some of the food because time was running away and we needed to get to school. Daniel

Softball in the hall

In term 1 we had soft ball. Brook was teaching
us. He told us what number we are.Number 1
had to be the people that doe’s the bating and
number two had to catch the ball.When you
catch the ball you have to use  butterfly hands.
Brook told us when he is telling us how to
hit the ball with the bat to hit the ball after he
tells us because it is dangerous. He also told us
to do a little hit because if you do a hard hit
it might hit the other people around us.There are
four bases base one, base two, base three and
home base.When you hit the ball you have to give
the bat to Brook then you run to base 1 then base
two then base three and then home base before
the cacher puts the ball on the t.When the fielding
people caught the ball they have to stand on the base
then they throw the ball to the next base.The bating
people had to wait in a line behind the cones for
there turn.It was very fun.When you throw the ball
you throw with a over arm not a under arm.When you
are running you have to touch the base but if you don’t
you have to go back to the base that you did not touch
and touch it again.After we played the game we
played another game.The first round it was Healy
and Daniel last.Healy won.The second game it was
them two again this time Daniel won.It was a tie.
before we played this game he told us what number
we are.Team one had to go line up behind the cones.
But number two had to line up behind the red cone .
When the first person comes back it is your turn.If
you are in group 2 and it is not your turn yet you
have to wait behind the red cone but group 1 had to
wait behind a yellow cone.But if the person comes
back then you can go past the cone.When you come
back you have to go to the back of the line you came
from.When it was Daniel and Healys turn everybody
was cheering for Daniel also Healy, Brook
was stamping to the beat as well. Leipia
