Taste test

Wow we enjoy doing Science experiments
Today we did the taste test. We tasted sugar water, salt water, vinegar with water and coffee water. The sugar was the only taste we enjoyed. During this experiment we learnt about that the taste buds on our tongue identify sweet, sour, salty and bitter. We also learnt our tongue is a muscle that helps us with eating and talking.

EOTC week

Wow week 8 of Term 1 already and we are enjoying our Education outside the Classroom.
On Monday we went on an insect hunt, after learning about what an insect looks like.

On Tuesday we joined our Puriri Team for Tabloid sports. It was fast paced and a lot of fun.

Wednesday we completed our insect mural and Miss Petrus managed to get green paint on her when the wind blew our painting onto her. We also went to play in the park with the children from Room 2. What fun we had.

Yay on Wednesday we finally got to join the rest of the Kauri team at camp. What fun we had flying on the flying fox, climbing the huge as wall, shooting arrows, cooking on the hobo stove and completing an obstacle  course. We were sad to leave after lunch, but we diid have a good time.

And to end our week of we had an extra long time in the pool where we practiced all the things we learnt during our term of swimming.

Chinese Zodiac

Hi there Room 13 have been learning about the animals in the Chinese Calendar. They have read the story and watched the story on a videoThese animals were chosen because they took in a race and Rat won. The children in Room 13 have made an animated slideshow and used screen castify to explain the story. Please click on the childrens' individual blogs to see their stories.

Swimming

May Road School has been lucky to have swimming coaches at school. We have been learning to stay safe in and around water. We have enjoyed using the life jackets.

Here are a few photos of us in the swimming pool.

On the first day on swimming there was coaches in the pool.  They taught us how to swim properly. They taught us how to float on our backs. Then they taught us how to do the mushroom.  We had fun and gained confidence in the water with them helping us,

Have-a-Go Day

What a busy term we have had already. On the 2 November we went to Kieth Hay Park for
Have-a-go day. We had so much fun doing the different activities. The day was all about having a go and doing our best and not about winning. Our first game was Ki O Rahi, luckily we leant how to play this game in Term two. Here is a video of us playing Ki O Rahi.

After we had a quick bite to eat we went to Tri-Star Gymnasium. Working on some of the apparatuses were quite hard but we still tried our best.

                             

Then we had to hurry to meet up with the coach for Ripper Rugby, we only had a quick drink this time.  

                                        

Finally after that we were able to have lunch, wow we were hungry.

After lunch we went to play football. That was fun.

The last activity we did was a tug of war, our hands were so sore after that, but it was a lot of fun.

After a short Prize Giving where Zakariya won the prize for our school we took our tired bodies back to school. You can read a more detailed recount about the day on our individual blogs. Happy reading.
